My_Running I grew up near green gentle hills, in the suburbs of a small town. My school was about a kilometer and a half from home so was the local plaza and cinema, therefore, I made the trip back and forth some six times a day. On the weekends and afternoons the neighborhood kids and I play baseball, soccer, or ran up the hills in quest for wild fruit. It was mostly during these adventurous quests to the hills (pastures) that we logged are fastest pace running away from caretakers and the occasional bull.
About_me I started running in official races only recently (1997), I had always run alone until I started to get hurt and decided to join a group. I started with the local Shoe Store (Footworks Miami ) and followed the Galoway Method. I run for therapy, I like to run with good company but when not available I run alone and enjoy the scenery, paying attention to flowers and wild life. My favorite runs are on nature trail and the soft sand on the Florida surf. I currently run with Footworks Mondays and Thurdays, Nike Running Club on Tuesdays, and the Bikila Athletic Club on Saturdays, Wednesday I od hill work on the Rickenbaker Bridge (Key Biscayne, FL) and on Sundays I run the nature trail from the Miami Seacuarium to the Bill Bagss Cape Lighthouse. (Key Biscayne, FL.)
Running_story My most cherished experience is; After several weeks of running on the soft sands of Crandon Park (Key Biscayne , FL.), and running through hundreds of birds sunning and/or feeding on and near the surf, the birds no longer fear my approach and merely move out of the way, sometimes I fear stepping on one. (To me this means that my stride may has somewhat improved, and I may not be transferring too much of a threatening thump into the ground. Either that, or the birds are dumber than I given credit for.)
Comments I ran 33 miles solo last year in a mix trail and road course, I was satisfied with my time and performance. My friends want to run 50 miles late 2006 or mid 2007. I had some nasal surgery and I am recovering. My preoccupation right now if my training for the ING Miami Marathon 2006, then I will consider running another 33 miles mid 2006 in training for my first 50M, after all, I got to accompany my friends, since I got them excited about running Plus 26.2.
